New York burned down).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shards of paint from fallen skies<br>If nine columns were to buckle,<br>Pushing out infesting life was<br>A nightmare you told us to have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A headache in our gilded minds<br>Ideas, like voids, kick and scream<br>To be released from custody<br>back to mother\u2019s arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perfect stillness. Strain to think,<br>cease to be an architect,<br>fill the studio silence<br>which none of us admit:<br>that for this perfect still life<br>a frame of perfect death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We wish we could continue<br>The same the same procession<br>That\u2019s been performed since eighty two:<br>Us, in pointless black, weeping,<br>bearing monoliths with nothing inside<br>but ideas, nightmares, acute angels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bring this queen to her grave!, we sing,<br>Williams\u2019 O mother of flames!, but<br>OMNIA CAMENAE IN VANITAS EST.<br>Now that you\u2019re not here anymore<br>Will our world become\u2026 inhabited\u2026<br>And everything unravel\u2026?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.archpaper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AP876A-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Photo by Rob Mattson.
